ESAB is the world's biggest producer and supplier of welding and cutting machines, accessories, automatic welding equipment and cutting machines. The company has a presence all over the world, with more than 6,000 employees. ESAB is represented in all countries in Europe, through subsidiaries or agents. ESAB uses Movex for such functions as production and order processing. In connection with an upgrade of Movex, they also upgraded to StreamServe version 4.1.2.

"For us it was natural to upgrade when we changed our input data flow with the switch to Movex 12.6," says Håkan Gustafsson, document developer at ESAB. "The upgrade went well. At the same time we were able to develop and improve a number of business processes, such as export management."

ESAB delivers its products to customers all over the world, which means that it has to provide documentation to all customs offices. "We now have the facility to pre-check all export documents and check them against the shipment in question, with reference to both content and prices," continues Håkan Gustafsson. "We can also edit and add text to the finished document via a web application. The whole process has become much smoother, and we're seeing a massive reduction in the number of calls from customers whose products would otherwise have been held up at customs or received a delivery that didn't match the documentation, which is good news both for the customer and for us."
